Kodiak Brings Its Autonomous Freight Readiness Metric to 99%

On October 30, 2026, Kodiak AI (Nasdaq: KDK) announced that its Autonomy Readiness Measure (ARM) for driverless long-haul freight has reached 99%. The company calls this ahead of schedule on the path to launching a commercial driverless service by the end of 2026.
ARM shows the share of claims and evidence in the safety case (a structured safety justification) that are substantively ready. This is not about mileage or the share of successful trips, but about how complete the document proving that the Kodiak Driver system is safe under specified operating conditions is. The 2026 trajectory: 84% in February, 86% in April, 91% in July, 93% in August, 96% in September and 99% in October.
The company attributes the rise from 96% to 99% in a month to accelerated testing and validation needed to launch and stably operate the service together with commercial partners. Founder and CEO Don Burnette says the remaining engineering checks and verification milestones have already been defined and scheduled.

In practice, this means Kodiak is approaching the final stage of its safety case. Once it is complete, the company plans to launch driverless runs on Interstate 45 between Dallas and Houston. This is a specific route under specific conditions, not a universal solution for all roads.
What remains unknown: exactly how many claims and evidence items are still open, what timelines are set for the remaining checks, and when exactly the first commercial driverless runs will begin. The announcement contains no data on pricing, freight volumes or the composition of partners.
